Prank-O Fresh out the Oven Campaign
As the leader in novelty gifting, Prank-O continues to push comedic boundaries through innovative product design and clever marketing. In 2023, the brand launched four new prank gift boxes: The Squirrel Hot Tub, The Cat Hat, Pet Tail Extensions, and Fire Chief, each blending everyday absurdity with Prank-O’s signature wit. Once the new box designs entered production, my creative team developed a cohesive marketing campaign titled “Fresh Out the Oven,” positioning the products as our latest comedic “creations.” Drawing on a playful chef-inspired concept, the campaign showcased the Prank-O team as culinary masters “cooking up” laughter for the holiday season.

Collaborating closely with our copywriter, I led the visual design and creative direction for the campaign, overseeing photography, video production, and social media content to ensure consistent tone and brand storytelling across all touchpoints. Supported by viral UGC content and a strong SEO strategy, the campaign generated widespread engagement and positioned the new product line for exceptional retail success during the 2023 holiday season.

I designed a teaser email to introduce the campaign and the four new prank gift boxes that were set to hit both our online store and Amazon.

We utilized strategic partnerships with new content creators, creating multiple UGC videos to highlight the four new prank gift boxes for the upcoming holiday season.

I styled and directed a company-wide photoshoot to gather new images and video content we could use for web, social, and other marketing materials. I focused on getting lifestyle images with different backgrounds as well as staged holiday gift openings. I faced a challenge of getting genuine reactions out of my co-workers who have seen and interacted with the product many times. I had each person read out the descriptions on the boxes and was able to pull genuine smiles and laughter, as they all began laughing with one another having an amazing time.

As part of the "Fresh out the Oven" campaign, I worked with our copy writer to create a unique blog post for the Prank-O Blog: Laughing Matters. This post showed a behind-the-scenes look at the preliminary sketches and different early concepts of each of the new prank gift boxes. We saw a great amount of engagement not only within our website traffic but also within email as well.
